National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health Brand Identity
Putting inclusion at the heart of the brand
Overview
Marlin partnered with the National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health to establish a distinctive brand identity for this new Commonwealth-funded centre.
Bringing together nine consortium members, the Centre works to improve health care for people with intellectual disability across Australia.
The brand needed to build recognition and trust among a diverse range of stakeholders, from people with lived experience and their families to governments, clinicians and service providers.
Marlin developed an approachable, accessible identity that reflects the Centre’s commitment to inclusion, collaboration and better health outcomes, creating a strong foundation for its national and international presence.
Problem
Creating a trusted, accessible brand for a new national centre that would engage diverse stakeholders and communicate its inclusive mission.
Solution
Created an accessible, collaborative brand identity using distinctive visual elements that communicate inclusion, diversity and the Centre’s approachable personality.
The Challenge
As a new Commonwealth-funded centre bringing together nine consortium members, the National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health needed to establish a clear and credible identity from the outset.
The brand needed to position the Centre as a trusted authority nationally and internationally, while remaining approachable and relevant to a diverse stakeholder audience. This included people with lived experience of intellectual disability, governments, clinicians, service providers and other interested parties.
Marlin also needed to ensure accessibility was considered throughout the brand design, creating an identity that reflected the Centre’s values and communicated its commitment to inclusion, collaboration and better health care.
The Solution
Marlin developed a brand identity and guidelines designed to express the Centre’s mission to shift perspectives and practices within Australia’s health sector.
At the heart of the identity is a logo featuring two simplified human figures, representing diversity and the importance of people with intellectual disability being included in every step. Their orientation towards one another conveys listening, learning and collaboration, reflecting the Centre’s commitment to bringing people with lived experience and health professionals together.
Marlin developed a complete visual identity, including typography, colour palette, photography style and distinctive brand shapes. We also provided comprehensive brand guidelines for the Centre to follow for all their communications.
The resulting brand is warm, insightful and practical, while remaining clear, approachable and accessible.
