Karl Tischler Founder and Managing Director Marlin Communications

Karl Tischler

Founder and Managing Director

Karl started Marlin with a mission; to use advertising and communications to impact the way that our society behaves. It was a very deliberate choice that he and Dan made to only work with charities and cause-driven organisations: organisations that served a truer and more worthy purpose.
Today, he often looks around and is truly humbled by those that have been similarly attracted by that choice.

Dan Geaves Strategy Director Marlin Communications

Dan Geaves

Strategy Director

Undergraduate and postgraduate studies in psychology led Dan to develop a keen interest in the ‘why’ that drives behaviour. Motivated by a desire to do good in the world, Dan has helped lead a strategic revolution in Australian fundraising, championing the role of drivers and values in determining effective, cut-through communications for the not-for-profit sector, and introducing new methodologies for creativity and innovation. A contribution recognised through his nomination as a Fellow of the Fundraising Institute of Australia.

Jason Ruffell Smith Digital Director Marlin Communications

Jason Ruffell Smith

Digital Director

Over the past 10 years Jason has led the delivery of digital campaigns and projects including strategy, transformation peer-to-peer, acquisition, website and integration projects for our not for profit partners. Jason enjoys helping organisations on their digital journeys and enabling them to drive innovation through clear strategy and best practice approaches.

For the past few years he has focused on integrating digital automation tools and techniques to enable multi-channel acquisition, engagement and conversion activities for our client’s campaigns.

Jason is also very passionate about using data and test and learn methodologies to inform strategy and tactics for virtual events, appeals and ‘always on’ campaigns.

Clayton Thomas Creative Director Marlin Communications

Clayton Thomas

Creative Director

As the Creative Director of Marlin, Clayton brings his formidable experience in global brand development into the service of charities and causes. With a quick eye for unexpected solutions he pursues simple and surprising ideas that capture the mind and the heart.
Clayton’s moral compass was set in 1990, when at age 14 he discovered Malcolm X, and started to recognise the oppressive tendencies of capitalism as they related to race and gender. Following this up with a crash course in media manipulation with the release of ‘Manufacturing Consent’ by Noam Chomsky the stage was set for a career that sat quite outside the mainstream. In 2013 he joined Marlin, and discovered place to utilise his social drive, creativity and communications skills.

Amy Story, Accounts Director - Marlin Communications

Amy Story

Account Director

With over 10 years account management experience across content creation and strategic agencies, Amy initially worked across the consumer sector before realising the for-purpose sector was where she wanted to focus her skills and industry knowledge - this has lead to her most rewarding role at Marlin.

To be a part of a piece of work, from conception to creation, to then see how that project directly impacts the world in some way is quite amazing.

Amy prides herself on developing honest and trusting client and colleague relationships, allowing her to focus on delivering meaningful pieces of communications that are creating positive change.
