Marlin Communications welcomes highly regarded Director of Fundraising as new fundraising culture consultant.

Marlin Communications (Marlin) announces the expansion of its service offering to charities today, as John Burns FFIA has joined to create new ways to support fundraising leaders in Australia and New Zealand.

A seasoned fundraising leader, John Burns will be joining as a Strategic Advisor, offering leadership training and coaching to individuals as well as working with organisations to shift and build cultures that support fundraising.

John is a recognisable leader and contributor to many cross-sector collaborations including Emergency Action Alliance and Public Fundraising Regulatory Association.

For over two decades John has been leading fundraising teams at Amnesty International Australia, Médecins Sans Frontières Australia, Bush Heritage Australia and most recently Plan International Australia. At each organisation he has successfully built sustainable income streams across multiple streams of income. He has a breadth of experience mentoring fundraising managers to become leaders, and convincing Boards to empower their organisations to test, learn and optimise their strategies.

It’s no secret that John has walked the talk. He knows what strong fundraising takes and has already been instrumental in Marlin becoming a primary partner of The Benchmarking Project. From deciphering the story of a charity’s data to navigating the role stakeholders should play, John’s experience adds something special to the perspectives that the team of Marliners already has, and I am thrilled he selected Marlin as the vehicle for sharing his experiences with our sector.
